Look under “Grading” or “Assessment” in your syllabus. If it says “Tests: 40%”, enter your test-category average as the score and 40 as the weight. Do not give each test the full category weight.
For dropped assignments or resits, calculate the category average using only the attempts your teacher counts. Then enter that average. This tool does not choose which work to drop or replace.
Extra credit is supported as a score above 100%, or earned points above possible points on an item. Separate zero-point bonus items, school caps and rounding rules are not applied. Ask your teacher if the rule is unclear.

The same set of scores can produce a different answer under a weighted course and a points-based course.
Points-based course
Choose this when all points count equally. The result is total points earned divided by total points possible. Extra credit can make earned points greater than possible points.
The weighted-grade formula
A 90% test worth 40% contributes 36 points to the final course percentage. Repeat that for each item and add the contributions.

Use the exact weights and grading scale in the course syllabus. A school can set different letter cutoffs, rounding rules, dropped assignments, and extra-credit rules.

How do I calculate a weighted grade?
Multiply each score by its percentage weight, add the contributions, and divide by the total weight entered. The calculator does this live and shows how much course weight remains.
Should the weights add to 100%?
The complete course should add to 100%. During the term, entered completed work can total less than 100%. The current grade is normalized across the weight entered so far.
Can the calculator include extra credit?
Yes. Points mode accepts earned points above possible points. In weighted mode, scores can exceed 100%. Confirm how the instructor applies extra credit before relying on the result.
Does Grade Signal send my grades anywhere?
No. The main grade calculator saves entries in local browser storage so they remain available on that device. It does not send the grade entries to a server.
